About Redbud Books

Redbud Books is Bloomington’s community bookstore, a collective of local book lovers at 408 W. Kirkwood Avenue. It sells new and used fiction, poetry and theory, takes special orders, and offers gift cards in the store and online.

Redbud is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit and a project of the Center for Sustainable Living. It opened in 2024 and doubles as a gathering place, with themed reading groups, a speaker series and international film screenings. Volunteers are welcome, and the website has a volunteer interest form.

Redbud Books is one of the nine independent bookstores in the 2026 Bloomington Book Festival Bookstore Crawl. Hours on its website in October 2026: Monday through Sunday, noon to 7 PM.
