Bloomington Online is a free, community-run hub for local events and news — no ads, no paywall, no algorithm deciding what you see. It’s built and maintained by Dave Martin of David Martin Design, right here in town.
Keeping it running costs real money and real time. If it’s useful to you, here’s how to help keep it going.
What your support pays for
Nothing fancy — just the basics that keep local event and news feeds flowing:
- The RSS aggregation license that automatically pulls in event listings and headlines from local sources
- Hosting for the site itself
- Time spent reviewing event submissions, keeping listings accurate, and fixing what breaks
That’s it. No staff, no office, no overhead beyond what it actually takes to run the site.

That’s the cost of this year’s plugin license — the tool that pulls in local event and news feeds automatically. It’s a specific, real number, not a fundraising target pulled out of thin air.

Is this tax-deductible?
No. Bloomington Online isn’t a registered nonprofit, so contributions aren’t tax-deductible. This is community support, not a charitable donation — please budget accordingly.
Where does the money actually go?
Directly to keeping the site running: the plugin license, hosting, and the time it takes to keep listings current. Once a year, we’ll post a short update here showing what your support covered.
Do I get anything for supporting?
Just a working local events calendar and news feed that isn’t trying to sell you anything. That’s the whole point.
