About Sobremesa Farm

Sobremesa Farm is a permaculture farm on North Mount Gilead Road, founded in 2013 to provide organically grown fruit and vegetables directly to the local community. It describes its methods as organic and regenerative.

The on-site farm market is open Sundays from noon to 3 p.m., April through December, and the farm sells produce, eggs, honey and value-added products. Eggs come from pasture-raised birds. It also runs 8-week CSA sessions with Wednesday delivery to Bloomington pickup points or pickup at the Sunday market.

The Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District gave the farm a River Friendly Farmer Award in 2024, and IU's Environmental Resilience Institute named it a Hoosier Resilience Hero that year. The farm also hosts workshops and lectures, and created the Sobremesa Foundation, a nonprofit focused on sustainable agriculture education.
