About World Foods Market
World Foods Market is an independent international grocery at 106 E 2nd Street, with products from Europe, Asia, Latin America and beyond. Its own site says it is dedicated to bringing global flavors to home kitchens, from specialty spices and unusual condiments to international snacks, imported beverages and gourmet items.
The Indiana Daily Student’s 2026 International Student Guide points to sweets and pastries such as dates, dried fruits and cookies from the Chicago-based Nazareth Sweets, a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern bakery, along with basmati rice, several kinds of flatbread, kalamata olives, tzatziki, dairy, meat and coffee. Wine and sake and soju are also on the shelves.
The online catalog is sorted into categories such as gluten-free, vegan, Italian, Mexican, olives, rice and beans, spices, tea, and sake and soju. The store accepts SNAP/EBT.
The market has deep local roots: it started as Sahara Mart, which the current owner’s father bought in 1986 in a smaller space off 4th Street, and it has since moved to a much larger spot at 2nd and Walnut.
Hours on the store’s website: Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Phone 812-333-0502.
