Cardinal Spirits

Cardinal Spirits is a craft distillery at 922 S. Morton St. in Bloomington that makes whiskey, gin, vodka, rum and liqueurs. The building is a former sheet metal factory on the B-Line Trail. Bloom Magazine previewed it in January 2014 as set to open that year, and Indianapolis Monthly says founders Jeff Wuslich and Adam Quirk launched it in 2015. The distillery describes itself as Bloomington's first and only craft distillery.

Besides the production side, there is a tasting room, a cocktail bar and a restaurant, and the distillery offers tours. The bar says every cocktail it serves is made with spirits distilled on site. The patio looks out over the B-Line walking and biking path. A bottle shop sells carry-out cocktails, spirits and gifts.

Cardinal also makes canned cocktails, including a Bramble Mule, Maui Mule and Vodka Soda. It says it uses local grains, honey and walnuts when it can.

The distillery's own site lists Wednesday to Friday 4 to 10 pm, Saturday noon to 10 pm and Sunday brunch from 11 am to 3 pm, with Monday and Tuesday closed; hours may change, so check before you go.
