These services and programs will emphasize 1) fostering a community of people of all ethnicities who support American Indian individuals, communities, and nations, 2) educating the non-American Indian mainstream about American Indian cultures, and 3) advocating for American Indians with other agencies. Believing that an inclusive community space is paramount to our mission, the NACC will strive to obtain a building with a home-like atmosphere which will be open to all people, but which will primarily serve American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians. In fulfilling its mission, the NACC will be inclusive of all American Indians, including people of mixed ancestry and two-spirits. We seek to provide a place where people wishing to reconnect with their ancestry can learn about pursuing this goal in a respectful and safe way rather than be taken in by plastic shamans or other hucksters.
