Chinese-inspired hot pot and malatang on East Kirkwood Avenue where you pick your own ingredients and one of five broths.
About MALATANG AYCE
Malatang is a Chinese-inspired hot pot restaurant at 430 E. Kirkwood Ave., which the Indiana Daily Student reported opened on Sept. 1, 2024.
The hot pots are partly do-it-yourself: you choose from a selection of vegetables and other ingredients for your bowl. The kitchen offers five soup broths and dry mixes at a range of spice levels. The bowl goes back to the kitchen to be cooked and is then served, rather than being cooked at the table.
The restaurant shares a front door and kitchen with the ramen restaurant Yatagarasu, but the two are separately managed, and Malatang is in the downstairs half of the building. The company also runs restaurants in Lafayette and Champaign.
