Subterranean dive club below FARMbloomington on E Kirkwood Ave with karaoke Wednesday and Thursday, rotating DJs on weekends, and a vintage Americana look.
About The Root Cellar
The Root Cellar Lounge is the subterranean speakeasy bar below FARMbloomington Restaurant, at 108 E Kirkwood Ave. It calls itself Bloomington's hottest dive club and admits only ages 21 and up. The Indiana Daily Student reported that it opened in late 2008 as a bourbon bar before adding wine, beer and liquor.
The space has original stone walls and limestone floors, an extensive beer can collection and a mural by artist Gretchen Sigmund. There is a specialty cocktail menu.
Karaoke runs Wednesday and Thursday nights, with rotating DJs on Friday and Saturday. The bar lists hours of Wednesday to Saturday from 9 pm to late, with events starting at 10 pm, which may change. The underground rooms can also be booked for private events.
