During the holiday season in 2001, Bivi shared her delicious tamales with her co-workers at Bloomington Hospital. Everyone loved Bivi’s Tamales, even offering money in exchange for more. Word of mouth spread and soon Bivi was taking orders for dozens of tamales at a time. The demand was overwhelming for her home kitchen, and Bivi’s husband, Mike, build her a modest detached kitchen in their homestead in Spencer, Indiana, where Bivi’s Tamales was officially born.
Since 2002, Bivi has expanded her facility from a 20 x 20 square foot kitchen to a self-sustained industrial kitchen. Bivi’s Tamales supplies Salsas direct to local grocery stores, she caters events and Farmers Markets and currently offers her beloved tamales and salsas at IU University.
