About Samira’s Restaurant
Samira is a family-run Afghan restaurant at 100 West 6th Street, on Bloomington's downtown Square. Its own site says the family business started in 1998. Bloom Magazine reported it is named after owners Anwar and Mary Naderpoor's daughter.
Visit Bloomington describes Afghan kebabs and dumplings, baba ganouj and hummus, plus vegetarian meals, for lunch and dinner. The restaurant says its vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees are made from scratch. Bloom Magazine highlighted kebabs served with brown basmati rice and steamed aushak and manto dumplings.
The site lists dinner Monday through Saturday from 5pm to 9pm and a lunch buffet on Thursday and Friday from 11am to 2pm, though hours may change. Samira also caters, and in 2018 the owner said he did a lot of catering for IU.
