Bloomington Bagel Company East

Bloomington Bagel Company calls itself downtown Bloomington's first and only scratch bagel bakery, and says it has been locally owned since 1996, using recipes from New York City. Its bagels are made from flour, water, malt, yeast and salt, proofed for 48 hours, then hand boiled and baked in a stone hearth oven. The east-side shop is at 913 S College Mall Rd.

The menu runs from plain, everyseed and pretzel bagels to cheddar jalapeño, blueberry and a gluten-free plain. Signature bagelwiches include Lotsa Lox, Wake and Bake and a Reuben.
