Comfort Keepers of Bloomington formed in a unique way.  Before coming together to officially open the company’s doors in 2008, Doug Johnson and Ann Harrison spent years developing themselves in the field of senior care. Doug’s compassion for seniors began with his warm relationship with his grandparents.  As he grew up, they were an influential part of his life, forming who he is today. However, Doug also realized, through the years, just how much assistance is required for seniors. He witnessed his aging grandparents struggle to perform daily tasks.  They were eventually placed in an assisted-living facility, and Doug began his career working in various hospitals, where he met Ann Harrison. Around this time, Ann was working as a nurse for hospitals and for a home healthcare agency.  She quickly discovered her patients had basic needs that she could not tend to because of the restrictions set in place by the agency.  This inspired Ann to research alternatives for in-home care.  When she found Comfort Keepers, she knew it was the right choice. For years, Ann and Doug talked about starting a Comfort Keepers together, but the timing was never ideal.  However, in 2008, life circumstances brought their ideas together once more, and Comfort Keepers of Bloomington was created. Since then, Doug and Ann have continued to provide Bloomington and its neighboring communities with compassionate, expert, in-home caregivers. Doug and Ann are also firm believers in improving  in-home care and giving back to the community.  They actively participate in the following organizations and committees:
