About Planted Bloomington

Planted is a plant-based restaurant, food truck and catering company in Bloomington. It began as a truck in September 2023 and opened its first restaurant at 400 W. 6th St., near Bloomingfoods West, on October 23, 2026. Its owner, Nicole Schonemann, also runs the Goat Conspiracy goat farm.

The signature item is the flat, an open-faced sandwich served on locally made bread. The restaurant brings over food-truck favorites from Chef Leah, such as the Violet, a banh mi-influenced flat with crispy lemongrass fried tofu and ginger tamarind sauce. Desserts are part of the menu too, including coconut-based ice cream.

Planted avoids single-use plastic and says it brings in locally grown seasonal produce whenever possible. It also caters events in Bloomington, Monroe County and Brown County.
