About The Bluebird Nightclub

The Bluebird Nightclub at 216 N. Walnut opened in 1973, founded by brothers John and Steve Ross. It is named after an ice cream stand in Washington, Indiana. The building has exposed brick walls and has housed businesses since at least 1920.

The club has hosted hundreds of local and touring musicians across jazz, blues, rock and hip hop. In 2003 the Indiana Daily Student called it the oldest music venue in Bloomington. Dave Kubiak was co-owner as of 2008. Shows were still on the calendar for October 2026.
