Mother Nurtured Midwifery

Mother Nurtured Midwifery is the home birth practice of Michelle Ingram de Oliveira, a Certified Professional Midwife and licensed (Certified Direct Entry) midwife in Indiana. She has attended births at home since 2007 and says on her website that she has attended more than 850 planned home births. Her care is built around natural birth and personalized prenatal care.

Care covers prenatal visits in the office (one hour each), labor and birth at home with the midwife and a birth assistant, and postpartum care: a home visit 24 to 48 hours after the birth, then office visits at about 1, 3 and 6 weeks. The practice offers the Indiana newborn screening and critical congenital heart defect screening, initial breastfeeding support and referrals. Water birth is welcome, and VBAC, breech and twin births are considered case by case.

The office is at 521 W. Kirkwood Avenue, Suite 1, on the corner of Kirkwood Avenue and Jackson Street, alongside Resilience Acupuncture. Free parking is available beside and behind the building and on both streets. There are also satellite hours at Butterfield/King Chiropractic, 420 N. Maple St., Orleans. Home births are offered within about an hour of Bloomington.

Fees use a managed sliding scale, listed on the practice’s website in October 2026 as $3,500 to $5,250 for the full course of care, with limited spaces at the lower tiers. Insurance rarely covers midwifery care; payment plans are available, and payments can be made by card, including HSA and FSA cards.
