About Bloomingfoods Market and Deli West
Bloomingfoods Near West is the west-side store of Bloomington's community-owned food co-op, which has been a cooperative grocery since 1976. It is at 316 West Sixth Street, a block from the downtown square.
The store opened on July 4, 2007 in the historic Encore Cafe building, which the co-op had bought in 2001. The co-op says it offers produce, groceries, meats, a cheese section and ready-to-eat food. Inside is Gallery B, which shows local artists on rotation.
The store calls itself a lunch destination, with a hot bar, salad bar, hot soup, made-to-order sandwiches, house-made grab-and-go items and baked goods. Bloomingfoods also takes online orders for curbside pickup at Near West. Owner-members elect the co-op's board of directors.
The co-op lists store hours of 7:30am-10pm daily and deli hours of 7:30am-7pm, but hours can change, so check its Locations & Hours page.
