About Griffy Lake Nature Preserve

Griffy Lake Nature Preserve is a City of Bloomington natural area on the north side of town, centered on a lake with woods and hiking trails around it, including a loop trail of several miles. The city lists the preserve as open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The boathouse and its restrooms are open in season, and the city’s page lists boathouse hours and rental fees. There is no drinking water at the preserve, so bring your own. Camping, ground fires and overnight parking are not allowed, and mountain biking, horseback riding and off-road vehicles are prohibited.
